Happy Monday guys!
To our dismay, it has been over a month since our last blog post. There isn't a laundry list of excuses to give you - things have just been rollercoaster crazy and social media and blogging have taken a backseat as a result. We are back now, though!
Today I wanted to show you how I took this bright red wrap dress from day to night. Since our trip to LA is literally 3 days ever - *hyperventilates* - I thought there was no better time to experiment with day-to-night looks. I plan on packing only a carry-on for our 5 day trip, so this is something of a nightmare/challenge for me - a textbook overpacker. I've been on the lookout for a frilly red wrap dress for a little while and the only places that fellow bloggers seem to find them are Revolve and Reformation, which are both frankly out of my budget. As you know, Alistair and I are Style Ambassadors for Le Chateau here in Toronto, so when I went in for our monthly shop and found this dress I needed absolutely no persuading.
It was a steamy 28°C in the city today (my absolute favourite kind of weather), which I saw as an opportunity to take my new dress out on the town. I fashioned a head wrap out of my mum's vintage silk scarf and threw on my everyday Carhartt WIP x Converse kicks to run some errands, grab brunch, etc. Hardly in the mood to come up with a whole new outfit for dinner, I let my hair down, put on some gold tasseled earrings, and finished my date night look with a pair of black block heels.
I've mentioned this before, but almost everything in my closet is bought keeping in mind at least one day and night look (if not a couple), because I like to get maximum wear out of my bad shopping habits. This tactic comes in handy especially when I'm travelling or have plans after work. Since I work in a creative industry, I enjoy the privilege of a less strictly enforced dress code. Carrying a pair of heels and earrings in my tote would make going out straight after work a piece of cake.
What's your go-to move for taking a look from day to night?
Keep an eye out for all our travel posts coming up very, very soon. We're so excited to finally be going on a mini-vacation to LA!
Thanks so much for reading! Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead.
