Happy Friday guys!

I know a lot of bloggers and YouTubers upload their beauty favourites and round ups at the end of every month, but because my skin throws enough tantrums to top a two year old, my favourites come in at a much slower rate. Hopefully that's a vote of assurance for all of you reading that all of the products mentioned in this post have actually been tried and tested. That's also why, even though we're not quite at the end of 2017, I'm putting together this round up in November. l like to give products (and my skin) 4 to 6 weeks to adjust to one another before I can vouch for them. Without furder ado, my favourite beauty finds from 2017...

1. Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser:

I discovered the Philosophy Purity cleanser at the start of the year after seeing Deepica Mutyala's video about it. After forgetting to pack a cleanser on our trip to New York in March, I popped into the closest Sephora and picked this one up. Deepica's video made me quite skeptical because she took off a full face of make up with a single cleanse in a real-time, no cuts video, but after trying it myself I was converted. I haven't used another cleanser since making the switch - it's gentle but powerful and even on a full-faced make up day can take off all my makeup in one go.

2. Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid

I am not exaggerating when I say this toner single-handedly cured some of the worst cystic acne I have ever faced in my life. On my last trip to Dubai between December and February, I have developed (sorry in advance for TMI) 40-50 comedones/under the skin bumps along my jawline and cheeks and they were absolutely horrific - painful, stuck under my skin, and plain ugly. I started going in for chemical peels for my acne and made the decision to try out laser therapy at the end of 2017 to take care of the scarring on my face. By chance, I stumbled upon a Korean Beauty roundup on Buzzfeed and picked up a couple of products that matched my skin type - Cosrx's BHA Blackhead Power Liquid is the only one I stuck with. Over the first two months my skin improved dramatically but I kept my hopes low because my skin has been through many highs and lows over the last 11 years. After almost 6 months of use, I've largely gotten rid of my daily breakouts and my skin is the clearest it has ever been in my teenage and adult life. A quick note: a lot of the time skin changes can be attributed to dietary and lifestyle changes, but that can be ruled out entirely here because I ate like shit all summer and didn't work out. So, Cosrx, you are the one!!!

3. Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil

It was a big year for highlighting and contouring and I tried, for a little while, to keep up but with my skin fluctuating so much I quickly gave up on pressed powder highlighters  and eventually, on highlighting altogether.  They all got too velvety and cakey on my cheeks - giving off a gross sheen instead of any sort of "glow" or "pop". A few months ago I bit the bullet and started using Cocoa Brown's Golden Goddess Dry Body Shimmering Oil,  having heard that Khloe Kardashian uses it on her cheeks bones and body in general. As I am with most products, I was skeptical at first because I have oily skin and putting an oil on my cheekbones sounded a little counterproductive, but it was not. The oil dries almost instantly, smells fab, and packs a serious punch with its glow factor. I used it all through my vacation in Greece and can't wait to use it on my trip to Dubai in a few weeks!

4. Bite Beauty Agave Lip Balm

Confession: Ya girl is chronically dehydrated. I am the worst at remembering to drink enough water through the day, which makes my lips extremely dry and chapped. Add to that the fact I only use liquid matte lipstick AND live in Canada and you have a problem. I picked up Bite Beauty's Agave Lip Balm on a whim and am so, so glad I did. It's so rich and moisturizing and is just thick enough that it doesn't get muddled under my liquid matte's and make them bleed. Worth every penny, seriously.

5. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay

This one is a very recent development. I've seen all the posts and articles praising this stuff online and frankly, it put me off a little bit. I have tried so many affordable products off of Amazon that have turned out to be complete disasters, I was not in the mood to ruin my good skin streak for a mask. Well, jokes on me because this stuff works. The first time I tried it on, I followed the instructions on the back of the box, which were to mix the mask with equal parts apple cider vinegar. While the mix didn't sting when I put it on, it left my skin looking a little inflamed after. A friend suggested water and honey or rose water instead, and the mix worked like a charm. Granted, it's much more difficult to dissolve with water but the clay mask is much easier on the skin when mixed with cooling and soothing agents like honey and rose water. Alistair is rarely ever able to tell the difference in my skin after I've been masking, but he voluntarily said my skin looked great the morning after I had used the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask, so that's a win in my books!

I'd love to know if you guys want me to do beauty reviews more often - I know I got a lot of DMs after I posted about the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mask, so definitely let me know in the comments below or on Instagram if this is the sort of thing you'd like to see more of!

As always, thank you so much for reading along! I know this was a long one, so if you got to the end - I appreciate you so very much. Click the links at the very top of the post or below to shop my beauty favourites from 2017.
